Media Release - 1st April 2016
Living Color - A New Exhibition with Health Benefits Romaine Kaufman is the Program Director and an Activity Consultant at Florida's Heartland Healthcare. She is also a successful and talented artist. "Both gerontology and painting are my passion. I pour a great deal of energy into both areas of endeavor which is a large part of my life." she explains. "Art can transform in two ways. Firstly it uplifts the soul for both painter and viewer and secondly can spectacularly enhance the surrounds providing interest and impact." Kaufman has always believed in community. Whilst having exhibited in big cities like New York, LA and closer to her home in Miami, Kaufman believes it also important that art should be accessible."I am putting energy in showing locally over the next few months" she says. Local communities need to see art which evokes emotion and in particular uplifts and enhances our environment and way of life. It could be said that vibrant color and dynamic movement are two elements that emanate through all Kaufman's works. " My paintings are expressed out of personal experiences, a human spirit, emotional energy and a freedom of the qualities of brush and palette knife. Personally having a bright disposition I am conscious of how my art can positively transform a space and I tend to do this with vibrant color " she explains. Kaufman has a pilot's license and has flown in a Cessna 150 over local areas in order to study land formations first hand so that they can be integrated in her paintings. Sensitivity to the environment is also something important to her. "The patterns, colors and shapes of landscapes never cease to amaze me and my intent is to encompass global movement of land and water. I try to integrate environmental shapes which translate via gestures of clotted and oil caked surfaces to release their symbolic imagery." explains Kaufman. Romaine Kaufman's "Living Color" Exhibition can be seen 1st to 30th, 2016 at Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Boulevard, Tamarac Florida. Her collection of paintings and the Center is open 10.00am to 5.00pm. |
